Digital Signage
Cabletime (Booth 3785), developer of MediaStar Evolution, the IP-based digital video delivery system, is responding to demand from the digital signage and retail market and developed a version for use in shops, supermarkets, malls, travel terminals, leisure centers, and in other typical digital signage applications. The new MediaStar Evolution Digital Signage Player is on exhibit at Booth 3785.
The MediaStar Evolution Digital Signage Player provides the same high quality of image reproduction to satisfy the specific requirements of digital signage and point-of-sale displays, however, the new product can deliver both content stored locally, as well as being used as a streaming device. Content, such as ads, price promotions and music videos, can be delivered in MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 format from the customer's headquarters using their wide area network or locally using a standard USB key.
The MediaStar Evolution Digital Signage Player Endpoint has the flexibility to deliver stored video content or receive streamed MPEG2 or 4 from a network or central video server. Additionally MPEG2 or 4 content can be entered into the Endpoint via a USB key or PCMCIA hard drives. The Endpoint can be set up to check for new content stored on a network and will automatically collect, replace and playout the new material. Local managers can also use the solution to synchronise their screens so they can coordinate and maximise their promotional messages.
The MediaStar Evolution Digital Signage Player Endpoint has an onboard memory of 2Gb, which can be increased to 8Gb. The Endpoint is based on MediaStar's established video and audio delivery device which has been developed for use with IP networks and supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression standards. As well as being able to drive a wide variety of display devices, the Digital Signage Player Endpoint also features a cardbus providing access for PCMCIA media cards, opening opportunities for local content delivery using static flashcards and Wi-Fi cards.
